For example, 192.168.1.1 should be the first thing you type in, in your browser, if you are experiencing any network problems or you plan to add a new router to the existing network. If you know your router’s default IP, you can access the configuration settings and start searching where the problem is. You simply have to open your favorite browser and in the address bar enter this IP. If the IP is correct, you will be asked to enter your login details. In most cases, you will have to enter the default username and password. By default, we mean that every router manufacturer has default usernames and passwords for all their products. This enables users to easily access the configuration settings and additionally, the router manufacturer doesn’t have to set up a unique login details for every single router they produce.

At the same time, this presents a serious security issue, mainly because a huge number of users never change their default login details. This means that someone who wants to gain access to your network can easily search the Internet for a default username and password for your type of router.
